This Japanese Naginata carving knife is a specialized tool derived from the straight knife, whose edge is sharpened into a rounded hamaguri-type shape .
This geometry allows for a very gentle attack on the wood , reducing harsh marks and offering excellent control during finishing.
The Naginata is particularly appreciated for Kamakura style sculpture , as well as for works requiring fluid and elegant lines .
The right-handed version is generally used by right-handed people.
The left-handed version is designed for left-handed users, but can also be used by right-handed users by holding the tool with the back face up , using a scraping or soft material-grabbing motion.
The blade is made of HSS steel , guaranteeing excellent cutting performance and good wear resistance.
