This oval -shaped Japanese scraper is forged by Hishika Industry and signed by Bessho Jirō, a renowned craftsman in the manufacture of Japanese saws. Its oval shape allows for excellent versatility: gentle curves, narrow areas, and small cavities become easily accessible. Unlike the square model, the oval shape allows for smooth work in all directions, without any blocking angles.
Its entire edge is sharpened, making it an extremely effective tool for finishing, removing residual fibers, correcting concave surfaces, or smoothing complex transitions. It is made of high-carbon steel, the same used for professional Japanese saw blades, guaranteeing a very aggressive and durable cutting edge, even on hardwoods.
Each scraper is handcrafted, giving it its unique character. This compact version (30×50 mm, 1.2 mm thick) fits easily between the fingers and offers precise control, ideal for fine woodworking, furniture restoration, carving, or delicate scraping on organic surfaces. Lightweight, maneuverable, and exceptionally sharp, it is one of the most versatile models in the Bessho Jirō range.
