This Japanese Delta-R scraper, manufactured by Hishika Industry and signed by Bessho Jirō, is made, like other models, from offcuts from the production of Japanese saws. The name Delta-R refers to its rounded triangular shape, designed to conform to cylindrical surfaces or pieces with curved edges. It is a precise finishing tool intended for fine woodworking.
The tool has three different radii — R30 mm, R20 mm, and R15 mm — allowing the scraper's curvature to be adapted to the geometry of the workpiece. Its hardened steel blade (0.8 mm thick) offers an extremely sharp edge capable of cleanly removing wood, smoothing curved transitions, or correcting irregularities before polishing.
Entirely handcrafted, each scraper has slight variations. Its edges are sharpened all around, requiring careful handling. Designed exclusively for wood, it is a compact, powerful, and indispensable tool for carpenters, turners, cabinetmakers, and craftspeople seeking a controlled finish on rounded shapes.
