These standard Japanese joinery scissors are forged by Nagasuke Iwasaki, a traditional craftsman from the city of Miki (Hyogo Prefecture), renowned for its centuries-old cutlery tradition. The "Left Eiyu" series is made of White Steel #2 , a Japanese steel prized for its precise edge, good hardness, and ease of sharpening, making it an excellent choice for fine woodworking and working with both hard and soft woods.
Each chisel measures approximately 220 mm in total length and is mounted on a sturdy, shock-absorbing Japanese red oak handle. The blade is protected by a thin layer of original rust-preventative varnish, which should be removed before use during the initial sharpening stages.
As with all handcrafted tools, slight variations may occur from one model to another, reflecting the artisan's handiwork. The different widths available allow for the creation of a set perfectly suited to the user's needs, from precision work to larger material removal.
