The Kugizume (literally "nail clasp") is a traditional Japanese tool used to drive the head of a nail below the surface of wood without splitting the fibers. This model is made by Tazai Nomi Seisakusho , the workshop of master blacksmith Tazai Michio , renowned for the finesse and precision of his work.

Each piece is individually forged, like the wood chisels ( nomi ) in the workshop, and receives the same meticulous craftsmanship. The Hiramaru shape, meaning "flat and slightly rounded," allows for controlled contact to prevent any marks on the wood. At approximately 160 mm long, this tool is compact, well-balanced, and ideal for fine work.

Designed for carpenters, joiners, and craftsmen seeking maximum control during the finishing process, this Kugizume offers exceptional precision. Hand-forged, it may exhibit slight variations, an authentic sign of a Japanese handcrafted tool.
