The Kugizume (literally "nail clasp") is a traditional Japanese tool used to drive the head of a nail below the surface of wood without splitting the fibers. This model is made by Tazai Nomi Seisakusho , the workshop of master blacksmith Tazai Michio , renowned for the finesse and precision of his work.

Each piece is individually forged, like the wood chisels ( nomi ) in the workshop, and receives the same meticulous craftsmanship. The Hiramaru shape, meaning "flat and slightly rounded," allows for controlled contact to prevent any marks on the wood.
