This Japanese finishing plane , made by Seikichi Sekigawa , is designed for final passes and achieving a perfectly smooth surface . It is intended for carpenters, cabinetmakers, and discerning hobbyists looking for a traditional tool capable of producing an extremely fine cutting edge .
The Aogami No. 1 steel blade is renowned for its exceptional cutting edge retention and ability to produce very fine shavings, even on difficult woods.
The Japanese white oak sole, prepared to a thickness of approximately 24 to 27 mm , provides stability, inertia and precision , essential for finishing planing.
Like all traditional Japanese planes, this tool is delivered not ready to use : sharpening the blade and adjusting the sole are necessary before use in order to obtain optimal performance.
Each plane is handmade ; slight differences may exist from one example to another, a sign of true craftsmanship.
