This handcrafted sumitsubo , called a Japanese chalk line , is a traditional tool used by carpenters and joiners to draw perfectly straight lines.
Each piece is entirely handmade , making this model unique and not reproducible .
The Kicchō (“good fortune”) model – “Hole” version is distinguished by the shape of the tsubo-guruma (the wheel of the line).
Made from keyaki (Japanese elm), an extremely durable and aesthetic wood, then finished with kashew (resistant lacquer), it reflects traditional Japanese craftsmanship.
It comes with a handmade tracing stencil (marking point), used to fix the starting point of the drawing.
