This Japanese Ryoba “Banshu Suketon” saw, crafted by master artisan Juntaro Mitsukawa (third generation), is designed to offer the precision of a traditional professional saw while retaining the lightness and maneuverability of a finishing saw. Produced in the Kanajun workshop, this saw combines thick carbon steel, complete heat treatment, and precise shaping to create a remarkably high-performing blade.
The saw is internally hardened, tempered, and refined, resulting in a structure where the spine and edges are reinforced while the center remains thinner. This construction enhances rigidity while providing an exceptionally smooth cut. Thanks to Mitsukawa's exclusive heat treatment, the blade achieves a rare balance between hardness and flexibility, ensuring a durable, clean, and effortless cut. The handle, deeply set into the tang, provides excellent stability in the hand.
Available in several blade lengths— from 180 mm to 270 mm —each version offers an ideal combination of control, power, and precision. The tool delivers a cutting quality that surpasses standard Ryoba saws, while remaining robust enough for professional use. A word of caution, however: the blade's high hardness requires careful handling to avoid breakage. A sharpening service is available at the workshop.
