This Japanese sori-ganna plane from Hon-Nagakuni is designed for shaping gently curved or wavy surfaces, particularly in fine woodworking and fitting. The term " sori-ganna " means "curved plane," with a sole shape adapted for creating or smoothing a curve in the wood. This model is equipped with an "oshigane," a small metal support piece located at the front of the plane that stabilizes the blade and improves the consistency of the cut.

The blade is forged from Blue Steel #1 , a high-quality Japanese steel offering a durable edge, excellent penetration, and wear resistance far superior to that of conventional steels. The plane's body is made of Japanese white oak, a dense and stable wood highly valued for its ability to transmit cutting force while maintaining good sensitivity in the craftsman's hands. As with all traditional Japanese planes, this model is not ready to use: it requires initial sharpening and precise fitting to unlock its full potential.

Each plane is handcrafted, resulting in slight variations in finish, detail, and dimensions. Several widths are available, ranging from 18 mm to 48 mm , each mounted on a body suited to its size.
