This Japanese flat plane, signed Takenori (Nakanotakeo) , belongs to the Togohei series, a range prized for its exceptional precision and the quality of its blade, forged according to the tradition of Niigata 's master craftsmen. The " Togohei " mark is engraved on the blade, guaranteeing authentic handcrafted production. These planes come with a carefully fitted Japanese white oak body and are ready to use after minor sharpening.
The blade uses high-quality steel known as " Inukubi steel ," renowned for its combination of hardness, long-lasting sharpness, and mechanical tolerance, making it a very stable plane for working with both hard and soft woods. The plane body is approximately 290 mm long, providing a comfortable grip and smooth gliding. Each plane comes in a paulownia (kiri) wood box, ideal for storage and protection against moisture.
Because it is a hand-forged and fitted tool, each piece has slight variations in appearance or dimensions. The three available widths— 70 mm, 65 mm, and 60 mm —allow you to choose the tool best suited to the surface you are working on, whether you are planing, refining, or achieving impeccable finishes on fine woodworking pieces.
