This traditional Japanese hammer, called genno , is hand-forged in Sanjo (Niigata, Japan) by the blacksmith Hiroki Aida , heir to a know-how passed down by the master Kozaburo Hasegawa, a historical reference in Japanese forging.
This version is distinguished by a hand-filed finish , revealing fine, regular striations on the surface of the head. Unlike the standard black finish, this finish highlights the handcrafting, improves control, and gives the hammer a raw, technical character.
The square head ensures a precise and stable strike, particularly appreciated in traditional woodworking.
In addition to the blacksmith's signature, a Sanskrit inscription is placed near the handle. In Japanese culture, this symbol is associated with protection, concentration, and respect for the craftsman's skill.
Each piece is unique , entirely forged, fitted and finished by hand.
