The Koki Square Genno – Kasumi Finish is a traditional Japanese hand-forged hammer with a square head and a kasumi finish , a soft satin finish typical of Japanese handcrafted tools.

It is manufactured by Aitoyo Hammer , a workshop renowned in Japan for also producing the Hiroki and Toroku ranges, absolute references among traditional hammers ( genno ).
The Koki line is distinguished by an excellent balance between precision, simplicity and accessibility , while maintaining a high level of handcrafted finish.

What is a Genno Square ?

The square head allows for:

  • an immediate reading of the hammer's orientation ,

  • a more stable and directional strike,

  • excellent control, appreciated in carpentry, fine framing and fitting.

What is the Kasumi finish?

The term kasumi literally means mist or veil .
In the context of Japanese tools, it refers to a matte satin finish , situated between mirror polish and rough forging.

Advantages of the Kasumi finish:

  • soft-touch surface

  • subtle, non-glaring reflections

  • understated and professional aesthetic

  • excellent resistance to micro-scratches
