The Hiroki Fire-Forged Square Genno is a traditional Japanese hand-forged hammer , recognizable by its square head and its raw forged finish , intentionally showing the marks of the hammering.

It is made by Hiroki Aida , a Japanese blacksmith from Sanjo (Niigata), trained by master Ko Saburo Hasegawa , an absolute reference in the manufacture of traditional hammers ( genno ).
Each piece embodies a sober, functional and extremely precise approach, faithful to the spirit of historical Japanese tools.

What is a Genno Square ?

Unlike cylindrical models, the square shape offers:

  • an immediate reading of head orientation ,

  • a more directional and stable strike,

  • a style appreciated by carpenters and joiners seeking control and character .

What is the Fire-Forged finish?

The fire-forged finish means that the head is not industrially polished:
The forging marks are deliberately preserved , testifying to the hot working and the artisanal authenticity.
Each hammer is unique , with subtle variations in texture and color.
