The Naniwa Gōken sharpening stone is specially designed for sharpening curved blades ( kyokusenba ), such as pruning shears, florist knives, peeling knives, or any tool requiring precise sharpening on a curve. Its rounded shape naturally follows the geometry of the blade, ensuring consistent contact and even sharpening.
Before use, the stone should be immersed in water for a few minutes to allow for proper lubrication and to prevent clogging.
It is available in three grains:
-
#220 (silicon carbide): rapid roughing
-
#1000 (fused alumina): standard sharpening
-
#3000 (fused alumina): fine finish
