This small Japanese Sakazuki plane, made by Jozaburo, is designed for precision work where fine control and a clean cut are essential. The term “Sakazuki” refers to a small, compact plane used for delicate adjustments and thin surfaces. This model belongs to the “ no uradashi ” category, meaning it doesn't require the traditional ura-dashi operation, a light hammering of the back of the blade to restore the concave surface. The blade is already shaped with a suitable curve, allowing it to maintain a functional edge simply by ura-togi , or polishing the back, making maintenance easier and faster than on a conventional plane.

The plane's body is made of Japanese red oak, a dense and stable wood highly prized for its durability and ability to withstand the repeated stresses of a professional tool. The plane measures approximately 21 cm, giving it excellent maneuverability. Like all handcrafted Japanese tools, it is not ready to use and requires initial sharpening and proper fitting to reach its full potential. As each piece is handmade, slight variations in appearance or texture may occur.
