This Japanese square hammer is forged by Shinzan , a craftsman from Sanjō renowned for his traditional, entirely handcrafted work. The head features a Tsuichime finish (hammered surface), which is not decorative but rather a testament to the successive hammering during the forging process, ensuring strength, density, and balance.
With a traditional weight of 50 monme (≈177 g) and a head length of approximately 65 mm , this compact gennō is ideal for precision work, delicate assembly, woodworking adjustments, or as a small test hammer. Each piece is unique, with slight variations and forging marks that reflect the blacksmith's craftsmanship.
This model is sold without a handle , allowing the carpenter or craftsman to choose their own handle according to their preference.
