The case is entirely finished in urushi lacquer , combining a full lacquer and a textured lacquer called mushi-kui / uzura-nuri , bringing depth and relief to the surface.

The mushi-kui-nuri part is adorned with the signature 「志」 (Kokoro) made in silver maki-e , while the black lacquer part is decorated with a flame motif (炎) , a symbol of strength, energy and craftsmanship.
