This professional 12mm Japanese wood chisel is a Hirama model (flat, aligned profile) designed for precision work, deep carving, and technical adjustments. Developed by Honmammon, it represents the high-end standard for discerning craftspeople and enthusiasts.
Hand-forged from Shirogami #2 steel (White Paper Steel #2) and laminated onto a very soft iron base, it offers an extremely fine cut, easy sharpening and excellent longevity.
The Hirama model is distinguished by its neck, which is perfectly aligned with the blade. This geometry allows the neck to be used as a natural guide , significantly improving accuracy when cutting deep mortises and straight recesses.

Interview
